This is my baby. She is kind of old but she still moves. I acquired her almost 4 years ago now and she has been a great friend. I must admit that before I drove her I knew almost nothing about cars. But through trial and error I gained quite a bit about this car. Not just in experience and knowledge but I would have to sentimental and say in my personality as well. On the surface my boastful attitude might seem arrogant. But in reality I am just a little cocky. And I think it all came from this little car. |
|
In the following table is a few of the specific areas of my car that I think would be interesting to see. Many hours have been spent toiling away under her hood. But I would have to say that fixing her is almost as enjoyable as driving her. I am not completely confident that I will hang on to her for the rest of my life. I just think she might be a little too classic for a young man such as I. So if anyone is interested, keep that in mind.

I pulled the block and had the heads done. Replacing the valves and seats with hardened ones eliminating the need for leaded fuel. The pictures here are just to show off the paint job. I added headers, a new Edelbrock Carb to replace the old leaky Carter AFB, an Edlebrock fuel pump as well was fitted to allow the space for the headers. And other than that and the new fan blade she is all stock. |

Stereo - After removing the original Mono speaker AM only Radio I opted for a more respectable system to grace the ear of the passer by with Dream Theater. The 2 12inch flat piston Precision Power Pro subs are fed by a mono channel 800 watt amp. The front left and right 5 1/4 inch speakers are accompanied with a 1/2 inch tweeter. The rear speakers are coaxial with a 5 1/2 inch sub and a 3/4 inch tweeter in the center. Those front and rear speakers are driven by a 4 channel 400 watt amp with 100 watts dedicated to each channel. The Amps are made also by Precision Power and the speakers are by Eclipse. Eclipse also makes my head unit which is a tilt face CD and radio tuner. The whole system is now fed by a 150 amp Street Wire Alternator which is connected to a yellow top deep cycle spiral cell Optima battery. |

Interior- The carpeting was pretty worn when she came into my hands which was replaced by a factory original kit at the time of stereo installation. this was also necessary when the heater core went and leaked coolant to fill up the passenger foot well to about an inch deep. The dash is still retaining a strong look with only a little fading. One of the only down sides is that the seats are vinyl and non-perforated which means that in the hot summer days you will defiantly sweat from your knees to your shoulders where the headrestless seats end. My personal favorite is the airplane style lap belts which cinch you down and refuse to let you move which is nice when the car has a severe lateral acceleration. |

Body- The paint job over the fiberglass body has taken a beating on the road ways of southern California which are always under construction. The sun has also taken its toll and faded the red to a more bittersweet orange. The original color was a Sebring Silver, which is the color that I will repaint it if I ever get around to it. The classic GT body constantly draws its deserved attention. And with new meats she just shines. |

Suburban- I must also recognize the beast that I also love. She has almost been my home on a few occasions carrying clothes food and living essentials. Through the winter months she allowed me to traverse the snow packed Minnesota roads with only slight slippage. ( 5 car accident ) It also is probably the only car that has the carrying space to accommodate my modest ego. |
